End of 2019 harrier season

Well you probably thought harrier season over ,no more emails . But like the proverbial bad smell , it’s not that easy to get rid of me.

Good to see the local weather god played ball and provided a blue sky day for the Alex Harriers final day on the calendar for 2019.

Members met at the ice Inline car park at 11am and headed in all directions.

Some groups went up into the Boot hill area, whilst some wanted a bigger hill so headed into the hills behind the clock. Others headed on up to the airport area whilst some W3s stuck to the flatter area around Alex. And some disappeared on their mountain bikes to join the café set.

All in all ,a pleasant day for a walk ,run ,bike and although there were very few back before 1pm, the rest turned up shortly afterwards. It was suggested that lunch be brought forward to 1pm , although it ended up nearer 2pm before the starving hordes were fed. Plenty of food available for those wanting 2nds or 3rds.

Well that’s about it for 2019. However there are still various groups who keep on  walking the streets and hills of Central over the summer months. Talk to your fellow walkers and I am sure they can get you on the right path.

Raewyn has asked me to remind you all of a walk down Patearoa Station on 30 November ,flyer attached again.

There will be a final get together of the harriers the following day 1 December at Monteiths Bar 4pm -6pm . I will send a reminder out closer to this date.

Your committee had their final meeting for 2019 earlier this evening and asked me to mention that the club still made a reasonable profit from the Clyde Alex 10k , about $1750 .

Also noted was that bus hire costs were up substantially  this year. Full details will of course be available at the AGM in March next year.

So that’s about it from me for this year , I will send a reminder out before 1st December.

Happy walking ,running ,biking over the summer
