Harriers big day out Cromwell Gorge

What a mistake a to make a .  The 10 walkers who travailed the Lake Dunstan Trail  had no hesitation to tell us it was not 21 km along the trail ,but nearer to 25km. I was simply reporting what I had been told , perhaps Graham threw them out of the van at the bridge instead of the coffee boat. Regardless, they all accepted the challenge and made it back for a cuppa on time. Although I suspect may have been a few muscle aches and pains  on Sunday morning.

Meantime about 25 walkers and a runner made the trip out to Weatherall Creek at 1pm , before all setting off along the trail. It was a there and back walk ,turning back when they felt like it ,to get back on time for that cuppa.

Another lovely spring day ,with some walkers taking time to sit down and admire the views.  There were a few cyclists on the track ,but all were generally well behaved. Even the goats behaved  ,both biped and quadruped varieties.

Not many photos sent in this past week , so here are a couple of Bendigo, where we are heading to this week.

We are now in the final countdown of the harrier season ,just two outings left. This Saturday we head to the Bendigo area. We will car pool there as the bus cannot access this site. For those wanting another challenging walk ,meet 10am with your lunch  and appropriate clothing , corner Walton  & Thompson streets to car pool up . The Kanuka track is not as long the Lake Dunstan Trail , but it does have plenty of undulations , so you have been warned. Everyone else meet at  12:30pm to car pool for a wander around the Bendigo gold mining area. M-Zs duty pack , perfect those baking skills this week.

The following week is the closing day local walk to lunch. Lunch will be at the Alexandra Bowling club catered by the Lions for $35. What will you get ? Well there may be whitebait for entrée , crayfish mornay for main , and a baked Alaska for desert.. However Lions being big cats , they are pretty indifferent to humans  and will give us what they feel like , whether that be bangers and mash  , or some other roast ,vege and salad. They usually have some leftovers , so those of you with hollow legs can go up for seconds. We tell them each year lunch at 1pm ,but those cats take their own sweet time ,so it will probably be 1:30pm ish again. Contact Barrie to book your lunch 021 445 918.Barrie will take your cash off you ,otherwise internet banking to club account 031733 0004935 00 with your name as reference.

Another sunny day booked in for Saturday. See you at  Bendigo
