Harriers search for Flat Top

Partly cloudy skies, not too warm or too cold . Just ideal for a wander around Butchers Dam and Flat Top reserve. A couple of score  and more (40 something) members car pooled out To Butchers Dam on Saturday for their weekly Harrier fix. By the time they got back to the car park, most groups has split into bubbles , or in other words, were well spread out. Some groups kept to the Lower elevations , as they knew it was quite a climb to actually get to the so called Flat Top area. All were back to the car park around 3pm

With the cancellation of the Alexandra Blossom Festival this Saturday , it has created a new opportunity for another harrier outing. So this Saturday , meet corner Walton & Thompson streets at 12:30pm to catch a bus ride to Bannockburn inlet. Bring along $5 to help cover the cost of the bus. (Not $12 that someone said ) Because we are chartering the bus ,it is not public transport ,so there is no requirement to wear a mask, but you are welcome to wear one if you feel more comfortable doing so. The executive has also decided we can resume afternoon tea , so M-Zs will be duty pack this week.

Closing day lunch Saturday 16 October ,Alexandra Bowling club about 1pm-ish. The usual big cats (the Lions club ) will be catering again with cost of $25 per person. A list will be available for next couple of outings , or you can text Barrie on 021 445918 to reserve your place and advise if any special dietary requirements eg. gluten free , vegetarian (whitebait patties etc.) Barrie has been roped in to help with the cooking this year , so any complaints about the meal will probably be met with a kick to the ankles.

The local weather god advises that local farmers have requested some rain this weekend, so it may pay to bring a jacket along to harriers on Saturday.

Hope to see you there
