Bannockburn Bazooka or Bust

Saturday , as forecast the farmers got some much needed rain. By 12:30pm it was no longer raining in Alexandra , but anyone would have thought it was still pouring down , as the bus was less than half full of harriers. As the bus got to the top of the Clyde hill the rain started up again. By the time we got to the Bannockburn  inlet the rain was easing and 5 minutes after setting off it cleared. A big group of 3 runners had a good run of around 12km , getting back to the bus by 3pm. The walkers all split up into a number of groups , taking in parts of the new Lake Dunstan cycle trail.  Most headed towards Cornish Point , though no one made it down to the coffee boat. So most went 4-6km down the trail before turning back. I don’t think we lost any to the winery on the journey back. Just as they got back for afternoon tea , another shower of rain hit. Some of you may have wondered from the photo if we had a full bus and some had to travel cattle class.. No ,they were just seeking some shelter from the rain ,which lasted about 5-10 minutes before everyone got back out into the fresh air for that cuppa.

As we got back for some liquid refreshments at Monteiths , we noticed the Gorons from Gore, were in town for the Blossom Festival. Yes many carloads of Bogans , who didn’t get the message the Blossom Festival was cancelled , Kept the local cops occupied for awhile.
