Vintage Vine Valk at McArthur Ridge

Turn on a blue sky day with temperatures into the double figures (just) and those fair weather harriers will reappear. Nearly double the previous week with about 60 members turning up for a wander around the vines at McArthur ridge. Perhaps they were hoping for a wine ,not a vine.

Most groups headed towards the northern end of the vineyard , except for one group (there is always one ,isn’t there ) who headed south. There were some electric fences to contend with, But that  was easily sorted by dropping the plastic standard whilst the group walked over the fence. One only had to remember that the person standing on the standard ,should also cross the fence before putting the standard up again.

The W2 group had the benefit of local knowledge with David & Maryon in the group , coming out on the eastern edge of the vines ahead of the W1s. However the groups soon merged before separating again.nnThey were joined by a couple of goats ,Snowy & Sprinkles , see if you can spot the goats in the photos. The neighbours eventually turned up, to convince the goats to return home.  Those goats had no problem getting over the fences , clearly comfortable  with the company going by

No great hills to climb this week ,or gullies to get lost in , so all groups were back in time for afternoon tea.

This Saturday we head to  the Wanaka area. The destination for this weekend's trip will be Lake Hawea finishing at Camphill Bridge at the Hawea White Water park.
