For those of you who listened to Ewan last week and turned up to Fruitlands, you would have been quite lonely down there on your own. That’s because a turnout in the mid-40s went to Waikerikeri Valley for a wander around there. Despite earlier forecasts of rain and cold southerlies, it was a reasonable day with blue skies and we just had to put up with Clyde blowing a bit of air around.
The W3s headed up Waikerikeri Valley Road, whilst the other groups headed up the hills to take in the views. The road over to the Clyde lookout is still there, but we could see how much of the terrace area is under development.
All groups were back on time between 3:15 and 3:30pm in time for that welcome cuppa.
