Pirates Off the Starboard Bow!

Spring has been living up to it’s reputation, being quite changeable . Saturday was no different ,early morning rain had cleared and fresh snow had blanketed some of the hills

But by harrier time it was generally fine , just a cool southerly blowing thru. And as normal this time of year ,numbers start to drop off as other pursuits divide members time  ,but there were still 30 something members who met up at the Lowburn Hall for an outing.

The walking groups all set off together for a trip up the Lowburn Valley ,some going up and back , whilst others did the loop round Burn Cottage road

The runners went off along the lake track and explored the ins and outs of all the inlets at Pisa Moorings before returning via the sugarloaf. A small pack of 2 went up onto the sugarloaf and cut across the international airport before dropping down into a gully and back to the hall.

All groups were back on time for that welcome cuppa, before there was an invasion of pirates, some looking for food and some looking to play in the playground. I am sure the pubs in the Wanaka and Cromwell areas sighed with relief as the pirates moved on

The number of harrier outings is fast coming to a close. This week we head for Roxburgh (I am guessing the carpark below the Roxburgh Dam) , bus will leave at the earlier time of 12:30pm with M-Zs final chance to show off your baking skills

Closing day will be Saturday 19 October ,walking or running from the Alex Bowling club at 11:00am .Park in the Ice rink car park for this one as there will be bowls going on. The Lions Club will be catering lunch at a cost of $25 per person. Barrie Hood has the list for the lunch ,contact him on 021 445 918 or he will have the list on the bus this Saturday.

Remember to pay the treasurer $25 per person into the club account before then and remember to put your name down as reference so he knows who has paid.

The Lions will need numbers by this Saturday , so that is day to have paid by also. After Saturday you will have to negotiate with the big cats to get fed.

Can’t promise sunshine for Saturday ,after all it is spring, but hopefully it will stay dry

See you there
