  • Snow was forecast so the planned wal on Cluden Station was changed to the Lowburn/Sugarloaf area.

  • Only 2 carloads ventured out early (11am) to climb up to Conroy’s Castle with about another 30 turning up at 1pm for a wander around the Conroy’s dam area.

  • Great weather again this year. Entrant numbers fell again this year, but only slightly with 223 runners and 96 walkers.

  • About 12 walkers set off at the earlier start time and were led by John Thompson over the hills and through the bushes to the woolshed.

  • Despite the weather forecasters promising snow on Saturday, what we actually got was partly sunny skies with a cool breeze at times. Nothing much to deter the 40 or so members from turning up for a local outing, with most groups heading up Boot Hill, behind the Elim church.

  • Sheepshead to Mitchells Cottage has always been a popular day on the harrier calendar and this year was no exception, with nearly 60 turning up for a walk or run.

  • Well,dial up some blue skies and sunshine and they shall come. Saturday saw a full bus plus a full car load of 52 walkers and runners descend on marvellous Matakanui.

  • It happens at least once a year, when the weather god gives the Harriers a taste of winter. Just so they appreciate those blue sky days all the more..

    So it was at McArthur’s, at the end of McArthur Road on Saturday. Skies were definitely grey, but a few flakes of the white stuff were not enough to keep more than 30 members away from their regular Saturday outing.

  • Well Saturday was yet another typical Central winters day, a crisp frost to stiffen your washing, and a bit of sunshine to give you your daily dose of vitamin D.

    It seems to bring the harriers out as well as nearly 50 turned out for wander through the tunnels in the Poolburn Gorge.
